Walpack Township Committee Meeting Minutes:

July 29, 2008

The meeting of the Walpack Township Committee was called to order at 8 p.m. by Mayor Fuller who stated this meeting was being held in compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act having been advertised.

Present were:  Committeeman Heigis, Committeeman Maglio, and Mayor Fuller

Also in attendance:  Michelle LaStarza and Virginia Fuller

The minutes of the June 24, 2008 meeting were presented for approval.  Committeeman Heigis made a motion to approve the minutes seconded by Committeeman Maglio and unanimously carried.

Committeeman Maglio made a motion to approve the vouchers for payment seconded by Committeeman Heigis and unanimously carried.  The following bills were approved for payment:  

14607 Kittatinny Regional High School $487.13  
14608 County Treasurer, Purpose Tax  2326.94  
14609 County Treasurer, Health Tax 76.74  
14610 County Treasurer, Library Tax  198.38  
14611 County Treasurer, Open Space Tax 122.91
14612 Sprint 9.58  
14613 Embarq   2.20
14614 Sussex County Clerk 101.38
14615 Laddey, Clark, & Ryan 333.33
14616 Municipal Software Inc. 100.00

Total  6,300.45 

Ordinance 2008-02 an Ordinance Determining Positions Eligible for the Defined Contribution Retirement Program was introduced by Mayor Fuller.  Committeeman Heigis made a motion to approve the first reading seconded by Committeeman Maglio and unanimously carried.  The ordinance will have a public hearing at the July 26, 2008 meeting.

The committee reviewed the correspondence.  Committeeman Maglio made a suggestion to contact the county regarding the recent article in the NJ Herald (Urban article) and wastewater management.  The clerk will do so.

The committee discussed the possibility of charges relating to State Police coverage.  The mayor will contact the attorney for his advice.

There being no further business to discuss and no one in attendance, Mayor Fuller made a motion to adjourn the meeting seconded by Committeeman Maglio.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:28 p.m.
