Walpack Township Committee Meeting Minutes:

December 30, 2014



Mayor Maglio called the meeting of the Walpack Township Committee to order at 7 p.m. stating this meeting was being held in compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act having been duly advertised.


Present were: Committteewoman Wycalek, Committeeman Heigis, and Mayor Maglio


Also in attendance: Michelle LaStarza


Committeeman Heigis made a motion to approve the minutes of October 28, 2014 seconded by Committeewoman Wycalek and unanimously carried.


Michelle LaStarza presented the bills list for approval. Committeeman Heigis made a motion to approve the bills list seconded by Committeewoman Wycalek and unanimously carried. The following bills were approved for payment:

Michelle LaStarza stated there was no update regarding the IRS.

After a brief discussion, the committee decided to install a new oil tank and remove two other tanks from the ground. The clerk will contact companies for quotes.

The committee reviewed the meeting dates for next year. Mayor Maglio made a motion to approve the dates seconded by Committeeman Heigis and unanimously carried.

Mayor Maglio attended a meeting with Craig Hutchenson, Kittatinny Regional High School, to discuss transportation and vocational tuition. During January, Mayor Maglio will invite Craig Hutchenson to attend a township meeting for further discussion.

The contract for Ferraioli, Wielkotz, Cerullo & Cuva in the amount of $11,630 was submitted for approval. Mayor Maglio made a motion to approve the contract seconded by Committeeman Heigis and unanimously carried.

Mayor Maglio read the following resolution. Committeeman Heigis made a motion to approve seconded by Committeewoman Wycalek and unanimously carried.

 

Walpack Township Resolution

WHEREAS, the Township of Walpack has adopted a “Minimum and Maximum Salary and Wage Ordinance, and

WHEREAS, the Township of Walpack wishes to establish salaries and wage for the year, 2015, within the minimum and maximum of its ordinance,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Township Committee of the Township of Walpack, County of Sussex, State of New Jersey, that the following employees and officials shall receive the compensation herein set forth, effective January 1, 2015 and each year thereafter, until amended or repealed. Salaries are hereby established and fixed as the salary to be paid to the officers, and positions of employees, might otherwise be entitled, except, however, which may be payable by law, or which otherwise may be properly authorized to be paid by this resolution, or another resolution of the Township Committee to wit:

Mayor  per annum, payable quarterly  $4,100.00
Committeemen  per annum, payable quarterly  $3,000.00
Municipal Clerk  per annum, payable quarterly  $5,000.00
Deputy Municipal Clerk  per annum, payable quarterly  $1,500.00
Registrar  per annum, payable quarterly  $500.00
Deputy Registrar  per annum, payable yearly  $100.00
Tax Collector  per annum, payable quarterly  $2,700.00
Tax Assessor  per annum, payable quarterly  $3,200.00
CFO/Treasurer  per annum, payable quarterly  $10,500.00
Construction Official  per annum, payable yearly  $800.00
Plumbing Inspector  per inspection, payable quarterly  $30.00
Emerg. Mgt. Coord. per annum, payable quarterly  $400.00
Dog Licensing Official  per annum, payable yearly  $150.00

Resolution Appoint Jason Laliker
 

 

 

As Walpack Township Tax Assessor

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

WHEREAS, Walpack Township is in need of a Certified Municipal Tax Assessor due to a vacancy created by the retirement of Maureen Kaman; and

WHEREAS, Maureen Kaman is to retire December 31, 2014 as Walpack Township Tax Assessor; and

WHEREAS, Maureen Kaman was originally appointed as Walpack Township Tax Assessor on September 27, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Maureen Kaman current term ran from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2016; and

WHEREAS, N.J.S.A. 40A:9-148 states in relevant part “vacancies other than due to expiration of term shall be filled by appointment for unexpired term”; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Township Committee of the Township of Walpack hereby appoints Jason to the position of Walpack Township Tax Assessor with an annual salary of $3,200. The original appointment of Jason Laliker will expire on June 30, 2016, in accordance with New Jersey Statute.
