Walpack Township Committee Meeting Minutes:

February 3, 2015



Mayor Maglio called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. stating this meeting is being held in compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act having been duly advertised.

Present: Mayor Maglio, Committeeman Heigis, and Committeewoman Wycalek

Also in attendance: Michelle LaStarza

The minutes of the December 30, 2014 meeting and the January Re-Organization Meeting were presented for approval. Committeeman Heigis made a motion to approve the minutes seconded by Committeewoman Wycalek and unanimously carried.

The bills list was submitted by Chief Finance Officer Michelle LaStarza. The committee reviewed the bills list. Committeewoman Wycalek made a motion to approve the bills for payment seconded by Committeeman Heigis and unanimously carried. The following were approved for payment:

The committee reviewed the contract for pest control submitted by Viking. The fee is $150 for the initial visit and $48 for each following visit. Committeeman Heigis made a motion to approve the contract seconded by Committeewoman Wycalek and unanimously carried.

The committee reviewed the contract for the township attorney. Mayor Maglio made a motion to approve the contract in the amount of $6,000 a year seconded by Committeewoman Wycalek and unanimously carried.

Mayor Maglio read the following resolution:

A Resolution Authorizing Submission of an Application for the Municipal Alliance Grant
 

WHEREAS, the Township Committee of the Township of Walpack , County of Sussex, State of New Jersey recognizes that the abuse of alcohol and drugs is a serious problem in our society amongst persons of all ages: and

WHEREAS, the Township Committee further recognizes that it is incumbent upon not only public officials but upon the entire community to take action to prevent such abuses in our community; and

WHEREAS, the Township Committee has applied for funding to the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse through the County of Sussex; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Township Committee of the Township of Walpack, County of Sussex, State of New Jersey hereby recognizes the following:

1. The Township Committee does hereby authorize submission of an application for the Municipal Alliance Grant for the calendar year 2015 in the amount $7564 from Drug Enforcement Demand Reduction (DEDR) funds, $1891 Cash Match, and $5673 In-Kind.

2. The Township Committee acknowledges that Sandyston Township is acting as the lead agency for a consortium that is comprised of the municipalities of Sandyston, Montague, and Walpack.

3. The Township Committee acknowledges the terms and conditions for administering the Municipal Alliance Grant including the administration compliance and audit requirements.

Mayor Maglio made a motion to approve the resolution seconded by Committeeman Heigis and unanimously carried.

A brief discussion regarding the National Park Service Vision 2030 took place. Mayor Maglio asked that everyone review the plan and documents and have comments ready for the next meeting.

The committee reviewed the correspondence.

There being no one in attendance and no further business to discuss, Mayor Maglio made a motion to adjourn seconded by Committeewoman Wycalek. The meeting was adjourned at 7:37 p.m.
