Walpack Township Committee Meeting Minutes:

April 28, 2015



Mayor Maglio called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. stating this meeting was being held in compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act having been duly advertised.

Present were: Mayor Maglio, Committeewoman Wycalek

Absent: Committeeman Heigis

Also in attendance: Michelle LaStarza

The minutes of the March 31, 2015 meeting were presented for approval. Committeewoman Wycalek made a motion to approve the minutes seconded by Mayor Maglio.

The bills list was submitted by Chief Finance Officer Michelle LaStarza. The committee reviewed the vouchers. Mayor Maglio made a motion to approve the vouchers for payment seconded by Committeewoman Wycalek. The following were approved for payment:

Michelle LaStarza prepared a Surplus Analysis Report for the committee to review. The report showed revenues and expenses and a decreasing surplus due to increasing costs ie. Insurance, school taxes, and other costs that the committee has no control over. Mayor Maglio requested a more in depth report that includes 2010 and 2011. The matter will be reviewed at the next meeting.

The 2015 Budget was introduced for public hearing by Mayor Maglio. Mayor Maglio made a motion to open the floor to the public seconded by Committeewoman Wycalek. There being no one in attendance, Mayor Maglio made a motion to close the hearing to the public seconded by Committeewoman Wycalek. The total budget for the year is $184,091. Mayor Maglio made a motion to adopt the budget seconded by Committeewoman Wycalek. A roll call vote followed: Ayes: Maglio, Wycalek Nays: 0 Abstain: 0 Absent: Heigis The committee thanked Michelle LaStarza for preparing the budget.

Mayor Maglio stated it may be difficult to find a new Office Of Emergency Management Official since the retirement of Mike Fernalld. The clerk contacted Sandyston Township to see if a shared service would be available.

Vision 2030 discussion was moved to next month in order to have everyone’s opinion voiced.

The committee reviewed the correspondence.

There being no further business to discuss and no one in attendance, Mayor maglio made a motion to adjourn seconded by Committeewoman Wycalek. The meeting was adjourned at 7:48 p.m.
