Mayor Maglio read the following resolution:

WALPACK TOWNSHIP

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TAX COLLECTOR TO ADJUST TAX BILLS

WHEREAS, this Governing Body recognizes the ongoing burden being placed on the Township’s resident and non-resident property owners as a result of the current State formula used to calculate Walpack Township’s share of the total tax levy supporting Kittatinny Regional High School, and

WHEREAS, the 2016 Tax Rate could not be adjusted to reflect that Regional High School Taxes would be raised in the 2017 budget per NJSA 40:48-17.3, because the deadline for any such adjustments has passed.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Committee of the Township of Walpack that the Tax Collector shall adjust the 2016 final and 2017 preliminary tax bills to reflect the elimination of the Regional High School Tax portion in the amount of $44,574.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Committee of the Township of Walpack that the Regional High School Tax Payable of $44,574 be raised in and paid from the 2017 Municipal Budget.
