Meeting Minutes:
August 26, 2008
The
meeting of the Walpack Township Committee was called to order at 8 p.m. by Mayor
Fuller who stated this meeting was being held in compliance with the Open Public
Meetings Act having been advertised.
Present
were: Committeeman Heigis,
Committeeman Maglio, and Mayor Fuller
Also
in attendance: Virginia Fuller
The
minutes of the July 29, 2008 meeting were presented for approval. Committeeman Heigis made a motion to approve the minutes
seconded by Committeeman Maglio and unanimously carried.
The
treasurer’s bills list and vouchers were not available due to the finance
officers illness.
Ordinance
2008-02 an ordinance for Determining Positions Eligible for the Defined
Contribution Retirement Program was introduced for public hearing. Committeeman Heigis made a motion to open to the public
seconded by Mayor Fuller. There
being no one in attendance, Committeeman Maglio made a motion to close the
public hearing seconded by Committeeman Heigis.
Mayor Fuller made a motion to adopt the ordinance seconded by
Committeeman Heigis and unanimously carried.
R-14-08
a resolution for sending out late tax bills was read by Mayor Fuller.
Committeeman Maglio made a motion to approve the resolution seconded by
Committeeman Heigis and unanimously carried.
R-15-08
a resolution endorsing S-1976/A-2982 to increase surcharges for defraying state
police services was read by Mayor Fuller. Committeeman
Heigis made a motion to approve the resolution seconded by Committeeman Maglio
and unanimously carried.
R-16-08
a resolution authorizing the township attorney to file a complaint with the New
Jersey Council on Local Mandates challenging a portion of the New Jersey State
Appropriation Act was read by Mayor Fuller.
Committeeman Heigis made a motion to approve the resolution seconded by
Committeeman Maglio and unanimously carried.
The
committee reviewed the correspondence.
A
brief discussion was held discussing the state police costs.
Mayor Fuller contacted the National Park Service during the past month.
The committee reviewed the NPS letter.
Mayor Fuller will meet with the township attorney to discuss the
findings. Mayor Fuller will update
the committee at the next monthly meeting.
There
being no further business to discuss and no one in attendance, Committeeman
Heigis made a motion to adjourn the meeting seconded by Committeeman Maglio.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
