Walpack Township Committee Meeting Minutes:

January 26, 2016

Mayor Maglio called the meeting of the Walpack Township Committee to order at 7 p.m. stating this meeting was being held in compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act having been duly advertised.

Present: Committeeman Heigis, Committeewoman Wycalek, and Mayor Maglio

Also in attendance: Michelle LaStarza

Committeeman Heigis made a motion to approve the minutes of the meeting from November 24, 2015 and the January 5, 2016 Reorganization Meeting seconded by Committeewoman Wycalek and unanimously carried.

Michelle LaStarza submitted the treasurer’s report and bills list for approval. Committeeman Heigis made a motion to approve the report seconded by Committeewoman Wycalek and unanimously carried. The following bills were approved for payment:

The clerk informed the committee of a resignation letter submitted by the township tax assessor. The search will begin for another assessor. Jason Laliker has agreed to remain assessor until one can be found to replace him.

 

 

 

Mayor Maglio signed the agreement for the Township Attorney, Glenn Kienz, who was appointed at the Re-organization meeting, held in January. The agreement is in the amount of $6,000 per year.

 

 

 

Mayor Maglio read the following:

TOWNSHIP OF WALPACK RESOLUTION
 

WHEREAS, the Township of Walpack has adopted a “Minimum and Maximum Salary and Wage Ordinance, and

WHEREAS, the Township of Walpack wishes to establish salaries and wage for the year, 2016, within the minimum and maximum of its ordinance,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Township Committee of the Township of Walpack, County of Sussex, State of New Jersey, that the following employees and officials shall receive the compensation herein set forth, effective January 1, 2016 and each year thereafter, until amended or repealed. Salaries are hereby established and fixed as the salary to be paid to the officers, and positions of employees, might otherwise be entitled, except, however, which may be payable by law, or which otherwise may be properly authorized to be paid by this resolution, or another resolution of the Township Committee to wit:

Mayor per annum, payable quarterly      $4,100.00
Committeemen per annum, payable quarterly $3,000.00
Municipal Clerk per annum, payable quarterly $5,000.00
Deputy Municipal Clerk per annum, payable quarterly $1,500.00
Registrar per annum, payable quarterly $ 500.00
Deputy Registrar per annum, payable yearly $ 100.00
Tax Collector per annum, payable quarterly $2,700.00
Tax Assessor per annum, payable quarterly $3,200.00
CFO/Treasurer per annum, payable quarterly $10,500.00
Construction Official per annum, payable yearly $ 800.00

Mayor Maglio read the following resolution:



Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse

Fiscal Grant Cycle July 2014-June 2019

Form 1B

 

WHEREAS, the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse established the Municipal Alliances for the Prevention of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse in 1989 to educate and engage residents, local government and law enforcement officials, schools, nonprofit organizations, the faith community, parents, youth and other allies in efforts to prevent alcoholism and drug abuse in communities throughout New Jersey.

WHEREAS, The Township Committee of the Township of Walpack, County of Sussex, State of New Jersey recognized that the abuse of alcohol and drugs is a serious problem in our society amongst persons of all ages; and therefore has an established Municipal Alliance Committee; and,

WHEREAS, the Township Committee further recognizes that the is incumbent upon not only public officials but upon the entire community to take action to prevent such abuses in our community; and,

WHEREAS, the Township Committee has applied for funding to the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse through the County of Sussex;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Township of Walpack, County of Sussex, State of New Jersey hereby recognizes the following:

1. The Township Committee does hereby authorize submission of a strategic plan for the Sandyston/Montague/Walpack Alliance grant for fiscal year 2017 in the amount of:

DEDR $9,564.00

Cash Match $2,391.00

In-Kind $7,173.00


2. The Township Committee acknowledges the terms and conditions for administering the Municipal Alliance Grant, including the administrative compliance and audit requirements.
