Walpack Township Committee Meeting Minutes:

July 26, 2016

Mayor Maglio called the meeting of Walpack Township Committee to order at 7 p.m. stating this meeting was held in compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act having been duly advertised.

Present: Committeewoman Wycalek and Mayor Maglio

Also in attendance: Michelle LaStarza

Absent: Committeeman Heigis

Committeewoman Wycalek made a motion to approve the minutes of the meeting from June 28th, 2016 seconded by Mayor Maglio. Minutes were unanimously accepted as presented.

Michelle LaStarza submitted the treasurer’s report and bills list for approval. Committeewoman Wycalek made a motion to approve the report seconded by Mayor Maglio. The following bills were approved for payment:

Mayor Maglio addressed the committee with the update on the Kittatinny Regional High School tax levy situation. He explained that changes would not occur this year but the 2017 tax bill would be revised.

Mayor Maglio informed the committee that he completed the Right to Know paperwork.

Mayor Maglio informed the committee that he filed the survey for additional information regarding the township with the Census Bureau.

Mayor Maglio read the following resolution:



Walpack Township
Resolution Appointing Maureen Kaman
As Walpack Township Tax Assessor


WHEREAS, Walpack Township is required to have a Municipal Tax Assessor pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A: 9-146 et seq.; and
 

WHEREAS, Maureen Kaman has filled the initial appointment that expired June, 30, 2016;
 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Township Committee of the Township of Walpack hereby appoints Maureen Kaman to the position of Walpack Township Tax Assessor at a salary of $3,200 annually. This appointment of Maureen Kaman will be a four-year term from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2020, in accordance with New Jersey Statute.

I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution is a true and exact copy of the resolution adopted by the Walpack Township Committee held on July 26, 2016.



Committeewoman Wycalek made a motion to approve the resolution seconded by Mayor Maglio and was unanimously carried.

Mayor Maglio read the following resolution:

 

WALPACK TOWNSHIP

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TAX COLLECTOR TO EXTEND THE GRACE PERIOD ON LATE THIRD QUARTER TAX PAYMENTS DUE TO THE DELAY IN SENDING OUT THE TAX BILLS



WHEREAS, the 2016 Tax Rate has been delayed, and

WHEREAS, the 2016/2017 Tax Bills are being mailed out later than originally anticipated and the third quarter tax payment was due on August 1, 2016,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Committee of the Township of Walpack that the Tax Collector shall extend the grace period for 25 days after the mailing of the tax bills to September 16th, 2016. After the extended grace period interest will accrue back to August 1, 2016.

Committeewoman Wycalek made a motion to approve the resolution seconded by Mayor Maglio and was unanimously carried.

The committee reviewed the correspondence.

There being no one from the public in attendance and no further business to discuss, Mayor Maglio made a motion to adjourn seconded by Committeewoman Wycalek. This meeting was adjourned at 7:32 p.m.
